City Hardware was an idea born in the mind of Rick Elliott when he purchased the building next door to his flagship restaurant Ricatoni’s in Historic Downtown Florence in the Spring of 2005. Rick wanted it to be different. Rick wanted it to be unique and above all Rick wanted it to be fun.

From the tomato fields of Stanislaus County to the Wine Country near Lodi and Sonoma in California, as well as, trips to Dallas, New Orleans, Nashville, Boston and even Oxford Mississippi his idea for a new restaurant in Downtown Florence, Alabama began to take shape. After obtaining funding in the fall of 2009, construction began slowly in 2010 and Rick opened the doors to City Hardware in January of 2012. 

People would often ask him what type of restaurant it was and Rick’s standard answer became “it’s emerging American with a Southern accent that serves Sushi”. Now that City Hardware has been open for a few years, it has people talking. Come by and try Rick’s newest restaurant and see if you don’t agree that City Hardware is by far the most interesting, unique and different restaurant in The Shoals.
